Chinese stock markets closed their morning sessions on Tuesday about one percent higher after reaching new highs in more than one year.

The Composite Stock Index on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, which comprises yuan-denominated A shares and foreign-currency B shares, closed the morning session at 1,513.1 points, up 1.07 percent with a total turnover of 19.4 billion yuan (2.4 billion US dollars).

It opened at 1,503.24 points, up 6.14 points over the closing level of 1,497.1 points on Monday.

The index went up 56.8 points, or 3.95 percent during Monday session, with its total turnover at 29.6 billion yuan (3.7 billion US dollars).

The major index of Shenzhen Stock Exchange, the Shenzhen Component Index, was up 1.77 percent to close at 4,086 points, with a total turnover of 11.5 billion yuan.

Prices of 850 shares were up with those of 57 shares staying at previous levels while the prices of 288 shares were down.

Bellwether G Yangtze Hydroelectric Power Group and oil giant Sinopec were down by about 1.5 percent after they jumped by 8.18 percent and 7.41 percent, respectively on Monday.
